Brevort Township, in Mackinac County,  lies mostly within the borders of the eastern unit of Hiawatha National Forest. The Township also includes part of the Mackinac Wilderness, a designated wilderness consisting of more than 12,000 roadless acres of woodlands, streams, and sand dunes accessed from Michigan highway M-123. Within Brevort Township lies the unincorporated community of Moran.

The Township was named after Henry Brevort (or Brevoort), a surveyor assigned to subdivide the area in 1845. It covers 98.8 square miles and includes public beaches, forest retreats, and a multitude of trails designated for hiking, ORVs and snowmobiles. It  is also the home of Brevort Lake, a largely undeveloped lake of 4,233 acres and known for bass, pike, perch and walleye.
