Hendricks Township is located in Mackinac County and is bordered to the south by Lake Michigan. This 81.1 square mile Township was first settled in the mid-1850s and was known for its fishing and lumbering opportunities. Today, paddling, camping and other outdoor pursuits attract visitors to the region. In recent years, limestone extraction (both through surface quarries and underground mining) has become a contributor to the local economy. Hendricks Township is located on US-2 – the main east-west highway in the southern section of the Upper Peninsula. Along the highway, travelers experience the Cut River Bridge, a cantilevered steel deck structure over the Cut River 147 feet below. The unincorporated community of Epoufette is also found in Hendricks Township.
