Soo Township, located in Chippewa County, is bordered on both the east and the west by the St. Marys River. Visitors and locals make the most of the river at a small park at the end of Four Mile Road, where an up-close view of passing lake freighters and ocean-going vessels can be enjoyed while swimming on the sandy beach. Soo Township covers 50.4 square miles, including Neebish Island, which is located nine miles downriver and makes up approximately 43% of the Township’s total territory. An estimated 64 people live year-round on Neebish Island, which is known for its abundant wildflowers and wildlife.

Back on the mainland, Soo Township is located adjacent to the City of Sault Ste. Marie and is home to several large commercial businesses, as well as expansive farm fields and agricultural enterprises.
